    The assessment

An acupuncture treatment begins with an intake interview, observation, additional examinations (taking the pulse, looking at the tongue, taking blood pressure, physical tests for musculoskeletal problems) and palpation. This lets the acupuncturist identify the nature and causes of the problem to be treated.

  2. The treatment room seen from the office entrance

    02

    The treatment

The acupuncturist can then continue with an appropriate, personalized treatment based on the signs and symptoms of the problem as well as the patient’s strengths and weaknesses (terrain).

The first treatment takes about 1 h 30 to allow for a thorough health assessment. Follow-up treatments last between 45 minutes and 1 hour. Once the follow-up is done, the acupuncturist inserts the needles and leaves them in place for about 30 minutes. Other treatment methods may also be used by the therapist.

  3. A corner of the office with books and plants

    03

    The advice

The treatment ends with suggestions and advice from the therapist to help improve your lifestyle habits.

See the “Treatment methods” page to learn more about the methods used during an acupuncture treatment.
