Acupuncture for children
Acupuncture for children
Children generally respond well to treatment. Acupuncture is a good natural way to care for children.

The same methods used for adults can be used for children, but with extra care. For example, needles are inserted and removed right away. For the more fearful, however, there are the following alternatives:
Press needles
This is a sticker with a tiny needle in its centre. It is applied to the acupuncture points and can be left on for a while. The sticker is hard for a young child or baby to remove. Still, it is important to stay watchful.
The small roller
This small roller with a toothed surface stimulates the meridians or painful areas. It does not penetrate the skin and is painless when the pressure is light. Children enjoy it and like to roll it themselves.
The spring needle
This needle does not penetrate the skin, but gives a stronger, more targeted stimulation than the roller. It is ideal for stimulating acupuncture points and is not painful when the pressure is light to moderate.
Magnets
Magnets are stuck onto the acupuncture points. They are painless and provide good energy stimulation of the points and meridians. They can be left in place for a long time for long-lasting stimulation. Care is needed, however, as the magnets must not be swallowed. It is a quick, painless and effective method for treating children.
